FREE ON-LINE E-LEARNING COURSE FOR THE DIPLOMA IN INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT (DIP. INT. DEV.)
A full-year e-learning course at post-masters level for the Diploma in Integrated Development ( Dip. Int. Dev.) is available on-line for use by all. Anyone interested can follow the full course free of charge. The Diploma in Integrated Development ( Dip. Int. Dev.) itself is awarded only to students following the course with tutor support, against payment for tutorship on a costs-recovery basis. Diploma graduates qualify to lead integrated development projects and to train others.
Just reading the course material provides full information on the concepts and methods the Model is based on.
10. INTRODUCTION.
10. The Diploma in Integrated Development.
The e-course for the Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip.Int. Dev.) is an advanced specialisation course on self-financing, ecological, sustainable, local development concepts promoted by NGO Stichting Bakens Verzet (Another Way) and partners. Anyone interested can follow the course, which is available without charge for independent students or subject to coverage of tutor costs for students who want to qualify for the Diploma in Integrated Development.
The Course Plan for the Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip.Int. Dev.) calls for at least 504 hours of intensive study, covering 18 «study points» each expressing a value of about 28 hours of work. Each course activity shows its attributed academic value.
11. The Creative Commons Licence.
This work has been placed in the public domain under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 licence. It is available to all free of charge Under the licence terms NGO Stichting Bakens Verzet (Another Way) reserves the right to information on each project documentation prepared under the Model by third parties and on project execution, and, where necessary, to correct the project documentation, approve it, and at its own discretion to publish it on website www.flowman.nl for the benefit of the general public.
20. INDEPENEDNT STUDIES
20. Studies without tutor support.
Study done without tutor support is free of all charge. It is subject neither to periodic control reports, not to block exams, nor to consolidated Section exams. Study without tutor support does not carry any right to the Diploma in Integraed Development. Only students following tutor-supported courses who successfully complete the course qualify for and are authorised to use the title Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip. Int. Dev.)
Independent students follow their own study rhythm without any limitation.
21. Studies without tutor support.: facultative application form.
We are very interested in receiving information on all those who decide to follow the course, even with this is done without tutor support. This is because we would like to know the country, region, province, district and project area involved. We can then create a statistical data-base on the applications of the Model. If asked to do so, we are interested in providing support for the drafting of their final project documentations and for the execution of heir individual projects.
30. PROFESSIONAL STUDIES.
30. Tutor-supported studies.
The tutor-supported course for the Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip.Int. Dev.) requires in principle a Master’s level university preparation. The course is adapted to post-graduate studies in many sector, including Administration, Agronomy, Economics, Education, Engineering, Environment, Finance, Law, Local Development, Political Sciences, Sociology, Water and Sanitation, Women’s Rights. A special appeal is made to women students, as Women’s Rights and Women’s Participation play a leading role in the execution of projects drafted under the terms of the Model.
Having stressed this point so as to make the high level of the course clear to all, no academic threshold is needed to accede to the course. Anyone may follow it on condition that he/she can read and write of that he/she have the services of a competent amanuensis with a good knowledge of the English language. A French version of the course is available for French-speakers. In some cases written work may, subject to the express agreement of Stichting Bakens Verzet, be accepted in another language. In any case, a high level of reading knowledge of English (or French) is required, as most of the resources used are in English. In the French version of the course, some, but by no means all, of the texts are in French.
Successfully completed tutor-supported studies qualify to use the title Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip.Int.Dev.) An academic with the title has attained a level where he/she is able to train trainers for integrated development projects.
Tutor-supported studies are subject to periodic control reports, block exams and section exams to qualify for access the following phase of study. For obvious reasons, details of the exams are given to students when they sit their exams. The content of the exams is subject to systematic renewal and subject to a confidentiality agreement.
Studies for the Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip. Int. Dev.) together carry a work-load of at least 504 hours. Students are free to follow their own working rhythm. Many students will need more time than 504 hours. The time allowed for finalised, well-written exercises rarely exceeds 30 minutes per page, including study of resources and lateral analyses. Despite the extreme study pressure, students are expected to complete the course during a single academic year. Where necessary, they can negotiate an extension to the time for completing their courses. In that case, however, NGO Stichting Bakens Verzet (Another Way) and/ore partners reserve the right to demand a supplementary payment to cover eventual variations in tutor costs.
40. TARIFFS (APPLICABLE ONLY TO PROFESSIONAL TUTOR-SUPPORTED COURSES.)
NGO Stichting Bakens Verzet (Another Way) is a strictly non-profit institution. It makes its course available to all free of charge under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-commercial-Share Alike 3.0 licence and derives no economic benefit (profit) from the course for the Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip. Int. Dev.) followed by the students. Payments for professional tutor-supported courses cover reimbursement for the actual costs of tutorial support (on an average 100 tutor-hours for each student) together with the real costs for course management.
Professional courses for the title Diploma in Integrated Development (Dip. Int. Dev.) are subject t payment, being :
Basic tariff : € 5.000
Price for OECD country students : € 5.000
Price for students from emerging countries ( UNDP list) : € 3.250
Price for students from the least developed countries (UNDP list) : € 1.500
The average tariff , based on the hypothesis of an equal number of students from each of the three groups ,is € 3.250.
Applying the bursaries expected:
OECD country students : € 5.000 less 50% (bursary at € 2.500) = € 2.500
Emerging country students ( UNDP list : € 3.250 less 60% (bursary at € 1.950) = € 1.300
Least developed country students ( UNDP list) : € 1.500 less 90% (bursary at € 1.350) = € 150.
Should there be a higher number of students from least developed countries in relation to the other two groups, the tariffs will be modified so that at least €3.250 per student is available to cover tutorship and administration costs.
